Army inaugurates Lagbaja complex in Lagos to strengthen training, personnel welfare

The Nigerian Army has commissioned the Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja Complex at the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), Lagos, as part of efforts to improve military training, administrative efficiency and personnel welfare.

The facility was inaugurated on Friday by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, according to a statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele.

Named after the late former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the complex is expected to enhance the college’s capacity for professional military education, logistics training, administration and welfare services.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Shaibu said the project underscored the Nigerian Army’s commitment to investing in infrastructure that would strengthen institutional capacity and improve operational effectiveness.

He explained that the facility would provide a more conducive environment for training logistics personnel who play a critical role in supporting military operations across the country.

The Army Chief paid tribute to the late Lagbaja, describing him as a distinguished military officer whose leadership, professionalism and dedication to national service left a lasting impact on the Nigerian Army.

“Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja was an outstanding military leader whose professionalism, integrity, selfless service and unwavering commitment to national service continue to inspire officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army.”

Shaibu said naming the complex after the late Army chief reflected the institution’s recognition of his contributions to leadership development, force transformation and operational excellence.

He urged officers, instructors and students of the college to emulate Lagbaja’s values by maintaining high standards of discipline, professionalism and commitment in the discharge of their duties.

“The values exemplified by the late Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja should remain our guide as we continue to build a professional and highly motivated Army committed to excellence.”

The COAS also reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening military institutions through sustained investment in training, modern infrastructure and personnel welfare.

According to him, improving educational facilities and the welfare of officers and soldiers remains central to his vision of building a more professional, adaptable and combat-ready Nigerian Army capable of effectively carrying out its constitutional responsibilities in collaboration with other security agencies.

The Nigerian Army said the new complex would support the development of highly skilled logistics professionals and further enhance the operational readiness of the service.
