Army wins Chief of Defence Staff Archery championship

The Nigerian Army at the weekend defeated other military formations in the country to emerge Champions of the 2026 Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Archery Championship for the Armed Forces
Nigerian Army won four Gold, four Silver and three bronze medals. Nigerian Navy finished second with three Gold, five Silver and two bronze medals, while the third position went to the Nigerian Air Force that won three Gold, one Silver and five bronze medals.
The beauty of it all was that this year’s edition was characterized with fierce contests among the three teams that featured in the exercise as could be seen from the one gold slim merging separating the champion and the runners-up and the silver medals that settled scores for the second and third placed teams unlike the 2025 edition where a wide gap separated the winner and the runners-up on the final placement.
Meanwhile, President of the Nigeria Archery Federation, HRH, Mohammed Baba Abdullahi has applauded the immense contributions of the Nigerian Armed Forces, in the development of Archery Sport in Nigeria while appreciating their wonderful support, growing interest and folloership of Archery Sport within the military community.
Baba Abdullahi further assured Nigeria Archery Federation(NAFED) continuous collaboration and partnership with the Chief of Defence Staff and the Nigerian Armed Forces towards the sustained development of Archery Sport in Nigeria.
As the father of Archery Sports in the country, the President congratulated all the teams and officials that took part in the exercise this years for making the 2026 edition a reality and prayed for another successful edition of the annual championship next year.
