Veteran Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has described the entertainment industry as an environment that, in his view, promotes self-glorification and values at odds with Christian teachings.
Speaking in a recent interview with media personality Joey Akan, Iyke argued that the structure of the industry encourages celebrities to elevate themselves to near-divine status, a tendency he said amounts to “satanism.”
“There is no bigger enabler than the entertainment industry. This is where demons live. Entertainment is totally created and orchestrated to extol the virtues of Satanism,” the actor said, while noting that individuals can still maintain a relationship with God through conscious effort and faith.
Reflecting on his own experience, Iyke recalled periods of intense public adulation during which he believed himself to be extraordinary. He said his outlook changed after a spiritual awakening, which led him to view fame and celebrity worship differently.
“I have been there. I have seen people cry when I walked into a room and I look at them and I think I am special. No you are not. Once you find your place with God, you will understand what is special,” he said.
The actor added that he now regards true fulfillment not as public acclaim but as the ability to remain spiritually grounded in an industry he believes often prioritises self-interest and personal exaltation.
