FCT: Civil society lauds Wike on Infrastructural development, security

A civil society organisation, the Centre for Transparency and Accountability has praised Nyesom Wike for his contributions to the growth of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Expressing happiness over the choice of President Bola Tinubu to appoint the former Rivers governor as the FCT Minister, the group described Wike’s impressive work ethic and the completion of several road projects in his first year as evidence of good governance.
The group, speaking through its president, Moses Adam in Abuja, expressed satisfaction with the security of lives and properties that the Minister has made possible in the nation’s capital.
Adam stated, “It is rare for a President to appoint a Minister outside his political fold, but Asiwaju Tinubu did, and Nigeria is better for it. We are happy with the decision.”
According to Adam, Wike has brought government presence back to satellite towns within the FCT, which he said were neglected by previous administrations.
Adam continued, “Wike has restored our faith in the nation’s capital, and we are grateful to Mr. President for entrusting him with this responsibility.
“Wike’s initiatives in the FCT have extended beyond road construction to include new parks, the relocation of business premises, and the revival of the Abuja light train services.”
Adam further noted the positive impact of Wike’s support for security agencies, which has led to a noticeable reduction in criminal activities.
The civil society group also acknowledged the role of the National Assembly in the quick passage of the 2024 budgets for the FCT, emphasizing that this cooperation between the legislature and executive is key to the ongoing successes.
