President Muhammadu Buhari has addressed the 333 released Kankara school children in Katsina describing them as “Lucky Children” who should strive to put the unfortunate incident behind them.
The President who spoke in local dialect that was interpreted in English language, noted that the rescued children were very lucky and should be careful in their future dealings .
Admonishing the lads, the president challenged them to face their studies squarely to the best of their abilities, as such efforts and gesture will determine their success in future.”
“Your success in future depends on how you face your studies to the best of your abilities” he added,
He urged the pupils to work harder on subjects like science and technology, instead of history and English Language, for according to him, the category of those who excel in science and technology are the category of people that are likely to stand a better chance of future employment
But Governor of the state, Mallam Aminu Bello Masari has described the incident as a wake up call for both government and security agencies to avert a reoccurrence.
Earlier in his welcome address , at the Katsina government House venue of the reception, Governor Aminu Bello Masari, noted that though the incident has drawn the state to international attention, he stated that what everyone must do now, is to ensure that the ugly incident does not happen again
” Security is everybody’s business, not only Government, and what we must do is to ensure that it does not happen again” he added
He explained that the government needs the support of the people more than before, noting that success in the current fight against insurgency, banditry and all manner of criminality was a collective effort if Government must succeed.
Gov Masari, however, commended Miyetti Allah group for their role, with the military and all others who contributed to the quick and safe release of the students
