Plateau United FC unveils Fidelis Ilichukwu as its new Technical Adviser

Management of the 2017 Nigeria Professional Football League Champions, Plateau United Football Club of Jos has officially confirmed the Appointment of Fidelis Ilichukwu as its new Technical Adviser.

The former Heartland Head Coach was unveiled after penning down a two-year contract with the Peace boys at the club office in Jos. Also unveiled alongside the new Technical Adviser is his new Head Coach, Abdulazeez Hamza Abara who also signed a two-year contract with the club.

Speaking at the brief ceremony, Plateau United General Manager, Pius Henwan challenged the new coaches to brace up for the challenges ahead by winning the NPFL title for the government and the sports loving people of Plateau State, stressing that the Club remains a unifying factor for the people of the state.

He assured the new Technical Adviser and the Chief Coach of maximum support and cooperation to enable them to succeed as everything has been put in place to ensure their comfort while discharging their duties.

“Plateau People are very passionate about the club and that is why we don’t want you to fail during your time as a trophy at the end of the season or a continental ticket is always our ambition.

“The two previous coaches that left won the league title and yours should not be an exception. So I employ you to put your acts together and fashion out a winning template that will propel the team to victory.

Responding on behalf of his assistant, the newly appointed Technical Adviser Fidelis Ilichukwu promised to deliver the league title stressing that he cannot afford to fail where his predecessors succeeded.

He solicited the cooperation of the club supporters and all other critical stakeholders to enable him to succeed, noting that everybody has a role to play in that regard.

Ilichukwu succeeds Abdu Maikaba whose three years contract expired last season while Abara replaces Maurice Naanmiap who was holding the position in an acting capacity following the demise of late Audu Isah Pele early last year.

The occasion also featured the unveiling of 14 newly recruited players after the departure of some regulars to European Clubs and the expiration of contracts of some unproductive ones.

Prominent among the newly signed players are ; Samuel Mathias from Lobi Stars of Makurdi and Kano Pillars duo of Victor Dennis and goalkeeper Suraj Ayeleso as well as Haggai Katoh who last laced his boots for Nasarawa United of Lafia last season.

The four returnees are Ogene Elijah, Jimmy Ambrose and Reuben Bala who were all members of the historic 2017 squad that won the club its first league title while Tosin Omoyele who joined the club the following year is also back after a season at Enyimba International of Aba.

The Club Supporters Club Chairman, Umar Shehu popularly referred to as Malam Audu had earlier led the club supporters to ban as the two newly appointed coaches were ushered into the Club Office.
