Bayelsa judiciary proceeds on annual vacation, names vacation judges

The Chief Judge of Bayelsa, Justice Kate Abiri, has announced one month recess for the state high courts from Aug. 3 to Aug. 31.

Newsmen report that the announcement is contained in a memo signed by Mr. James Lockie, Chief Registrar at the Bayelsa Judiciary Headquarters, Yenagoa.

Lockie stated that Abiri authorized the vacation, in accordance with Order 45, rule 4 (d) of the Bayelsa State High Court Rules 2010.

According to him,  Justices T.Y. Abasi of High Court 9, Yenagoa, and Timipere Songi of High Court 10, Yenagoa would serve as vacation judges.

The Chief Registrar further stated that normal court sessions across Bayelsa would resume on Sept 1.
