The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has called for advise of retired officers to subdue emerging security threats in the country.

Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu in a statement said that COAS has called retired officers of the Nigerian Army to feel free to offer opinions and suggestions that could be of benefit to the Nigerian military on ongoing operations to tackle insecurity in the country.

Gen Yahaya made this call on Tuesday, at the Combat Arms Training Week 2022, with the theme “Effective combat Arms Manoeuvre: A Panacea for success in battle”.

Declaring the event open, the COAS noted that combat arms are key to the Operational activities of the Army, adding that Nigerian Army operations revolve around the combat arms.

He said a lot of operational successes are being achieved in the various theatres of operations, though there may be some isolated incidents.

Gen. Yahaya said training is key to human development, performance and productivity.

He maintained that the NA will continue to partner with all relevant stakeholders to sustain capacity building of personnel to enhance efficiency.

Gen Yahaha appreciated the President, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari for his untiring support to the Nigerian Army and pledged the unalloyed loyalty of the troops.

He charged NA personnel to remain apolitical as the electioneering season approaches.
