The Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Matthew Urhoghide has called on members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the district not to publicly make critical comments about the policies of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led government.
Urhoghide made the call at a meeting with the Oredo local government party leaders in his house on Saturday in Benin City. He also urged party members not to align with other parties or groups to undermine the party or any of its elected governments’.
According to him, the PDP Constitution under Code of Conduct, Chapter 3, Part 1, 10 (5) and (6) which say ‘No member of the party (PDP) shall publicly make critical comments about the policies of any government elected on the platform of the party.
“And ‘No member of the party [PDP] shall align with other parties or groups to undermine the party or any of its elected governments’ respectively,” he said. He described as anti-party, any violations of this section of the party constitution and urged members to close ranks so that the party can be formidable at all times.

The two-time senator, who, however, urged leaders and members of the party to wholeheartedly embrace governor Godwin Obasek’s government, appealed to the party faithful to see the government as a PDP government The meeting ended with members in a voice vote promising to work to ensure that the PDP is one in Oredo local government area.
