Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured Nigerians that by the third anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the level of development across the FCT will surpass anything ever witnessed before.
Wike gave the assurance on Tuesday during the commissioning of a network of access roads in Daki Biyu, near the Code of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja.
“Next year, during Mr President’s third anniversary, Nigerians will see what they have never seen before,” Wike declared. “All I’m pleading with you is to continue to be patient. We will get to the Promised Land. Through Mr President, it will be a different narrative—you can already see it coming.”
The newly commissioned roads link key government institutions, including the Police Service Commission, Code of Conduct Tribunal, and the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, among others.
Wike attributed the progress to President Tinubu’s “right leadership,” emphasising that both he and the President remain focused on delivering results despite political distractions.
“I have always said that when you have the right leadership, you can achieve the right results,” he stated. “People talk about our achievements because Mr President provides direction. That is why the FCT is witnessing unprecedented development.”
Reacting to reports about his absence at the recent Council of State meeting, Wike clarified that he was represented by the Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, as earlier agreed with the President, dismissing claims that he boycotted the meeting.
“They said I was angry because my nominee wasn’t appointed INEC chairman. That is propaganda. I work for Mr President,” he said. “When you start delivering results, your achievements will silence all critics.”
Wike also praised Mahmoud and the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Jacob Dauda, for their loyalty and dedication, noting that unity within the ministry has driven their success.
In her remarks, Dr Mahmoud commended President Tinubu for his visionary leadership and Wike for steering the FCT’s transformation agenda with focus and determination.
Dauda explained that the commissioned roads would improve connectivity, enhance security, and boost local economic activity in the Daki Biyu axis.
