Defeat at Abia Warriors painful, says Niger Tornadoes’ coach Abarah

After watching his team lose their NPFL matchday one encounter at Abia Warriors, Niger Tornadoes head coach, Hamza Abdulazeez Abarah says the defeat was a big lesson for the team on what to expect in the new season.

The Ikon Allah Boy were beaten 1-0 via a John Peter’s second-half strike in a well contested match decided at the Umuahia Township Stadium, Abia State.

Coach Abarah believes his team paid dearly for their wastefulness in front of the goal in a match they deserved a better outcome.

He admits that the home side displayed a lot of quality in the encounter and took advantage of the chance that came their way

“Abia Warriors are a good side, we missed several scoring chances that would have changed the narratives of the game, but they got their chance and utilized it and that is what football is all about.

“Certainly, the defeat was painful but we have learnt a lot from it. I’ve observed our area of weakness and hope to make amend in the coming matches. It’s going to be a very tough season and we hope to be very competitive and challenge for titles on all fronts,” he said.

Abarah was impressed with the officiating in the match and commended the officials for a good job. “I don’t normally comment about officiating but today’s officials did a good job we hope they will continue like this” he concluded.
