75 new cases discover in Cambodia

Phnompenh, March 17, 2021 Cambodia confirmed 75 more local COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, raising the total number of infected people linked to the third community transmission to 990, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in a statement.

Of the new cases, 50 were found in capital PhnomPenh, 22 in Kandal province, two in Prey Veng province and one in Takeo province, the statement said

Cambodia has been enduring the third community COVID-19 outbreak since Feb. 20.

In a bid to contain the virus, the country had closed down all schools, sports facilities, museums, cinemas, and entertainment venues in cities and provinces, where the virus had been found.

According to the MoH, since the start of the pandemic in January 2020, the Southeast Asian nation has registered a total of 1,505 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with one death and 840 recoveries.
