As political activity builds ahead of the 2027 elections, the candidacy of Dr Thomas Attah for the Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency seat of Edo State is being presented around his professional experience, community service and economic empowerment agenda.
A statement by the campaign organisation on Monday projected Attah as a fintech executive with experience in financial services and electronic payment systems.
He has served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Funds & Electronic Transfer Solutions Ltd, with his professional profile highlighting financial inclusion and regulatory practices.
Supporters of his candidacy argue that the experience could be relevant to constituency issues involving entrepreneurship, financial access, small businesses and economic opportunities.
Akoko-Edo comprises farmers, traders, artisans, young people and small businesses whose concerns include access to finance, skills, markets and infrastructure.
Attah has also been associated with community development initiatives.
In 2025, the Onojie of Ekpoma conferred on him the chieftaincy title of Ekpen of Ekpoma Kingdom, with reports linking the recognition to his service to humanity.
His campaign places community development among the priorities of his proposed representation.
They also identify legislative advocacy, engagement with federal institutions and constituency development as areas requiring attention if he is elected.
Among the issues highlighted are roads and infrastructure, education, skills development, youth employment, agriculture, healthcare, rural development and support for small businesses.
Financial inclusion and access to federal programmes are also identified as areas where constituency representation could support residents and entrepreneurs.
The campaign argues that effective representation should extend beyond legislative activities to connecting constituents with relevant government institutions and development opportunities.
With the 2027 election approaching, Attah is listed among those seeking the Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency seat.
His candidacy places his professional background, community activities and proposed agenda within the wider contest for the constituency.
The campaign is urging residents to assess candidates based on their records, ideas and proposed programmes for the constituency.
For Akoko-Edo, the contest is expected to focus on issues including infrastructure, economic opportunity, education, healthcare, agriculture and employment.
Attah’s supporters have framed his candidacy around experience in financial services, community engagement and economic empowerment.
The constituency contest will ultimately place competing candidates and their programmes before voters as political parties and aspirants intensify preparations for the 2027 elections.
