Environment Ministry, KWEPA to synergise for better Kwara, Commissioner

Commissioner for Environment in Kwara, Mrs. Banigbe Oluwatobi, has assured the State Environmental Protection Agency (KWEPA) of a harmonious working relationship for the betterment of society.

The commissioner gave the assurance while receiving board members of KWEPA who were on a courtesy visit to her in Ilorin on Wednesday.

She noted that it was the responsibility of everyone to keep the environment clean, stressing that teamwork would help in achieving success.

“KWEPA is a parastatal under this ministry. So we are one and we will work together for the development and progress of the state,” she said.

The commissioner further assured that KWEPA would be carried along on any decision made, to allow for a smooth relationship.

Speaking earlier, KWEPA Board Chairman, Mr. Paul Twosa, said that the agency needed to be revived, as it had a lot of challenges confronting it.

He pleads with the commissioner that the agency should always be carried along on issues of environmental management.

KWEPA General Manager, Alhaji Saad Ayuba, commended the commissioner for his dedication and hard work since her assumption of office.

He implored the ministry to intensify efforts in sensitizing and enlightening the public on environmental issues, especially the usage of the newly-deployed roadside bins in the Ilorin metropolis.

Media report that other members of the board on the visit were Nicholas Agboola, AbdulMumini Alade, Kudirat Issa, and Saadu Hawawu, accompanied by the agency’s management staffers.
