A lawmaker representing Goronyo/Gada Federal Constituency of Sokoto State, Musa Sarkin Adar has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is free to woo politicians that would add value to the party.
Adar said this during an interview on Arise News monitored by ThisNigeria on Friday.
The APC chieftain was responding to a question on the rumoured defection of former President Goodluck Jonathan to the party.
Some media platforms had reported that Jonathan defected to the APC on Tuesday.
However, the former President debunked the news in a statement by his media aide, Reno Omokri.
Speaking on the rumoured defection, Adar said that the party should not be faulted for trying to woo Jonathan as he is “respectable and well-recognised”.

“The party is free to woo anyone who would add value to it. Anyone who is approached to join the party has a choice on whether to accept the invitation or not. We need to have members who can add electoral value to the party, which are the big names before we woo people from the grassroots.
“APC should not be faulted if it decides to woo former President Jonathan to join the party. He is free to join the party, especially that he is respectable and well-recognised. He has established a good relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari.
“However, I distance myself from insinuations that the APC will jettison its National Leader, Bola Tinubu for Jonathan if he joins the party. My point is that Tinubu remains the party’s frontline Presidential aspirant from the South. But if Jonathan (South-South) wants to come and give Tinubu (South West) a run, other aspiring candidates from the South East can also join in the race,” Adar said.
