APC chieftain urges religious tolerance for peace, national development

Chief Garba Pwul, (SAN) a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau, has urged Muslims and Christians to live in  peace in order to ensure the development of the country.

Pwul, said this on Tuesday during the Eid-el-Maulud event organized by the Tijjaniya sect at the Jos Central Mosque.

He noted that peaceful coexistence was vital to the growth and development of Nigeria and all efforts must be geared towards achieving peace.

“I urge all Muslims, in the spirit of Maulud, to fervently pray for the peace of Plateau, which had recently been troubled by crises.

“We must embrace peace, love and respect for each others’ religion if we must live together as citizens of Plateau, ” he said.

Pwul,  stressed  the need for mutual respect between Christians and Muslims as was the practice in the past.

He commended the Tijjaniya sect in Plateau for organizing the Maulud festival, which he described as “very inspiring” and “encouraging” to the youths as future leaders.

Earlier, Sheikh Muktar Adam, the leader of Tijjaniya sect in Plateau, said that Prophet Muhammad had taught Muslims how to live peacefully with non Muslims for the development of the society.

Adam, said  only those who are close to God and fear Him could enjoy peace and eternity.

He called on both Christians and Muslims to close ranks for God to grant them access to paradise.
