#ENDSARS Report: US tasks FG, LASG to act on role of security forces

The United States has welcomed the conclusion of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Restitution for Victims of SARS Related Abuses and Other Matters with the transmission of its final report.

The US is urging the Nigerian government to take suitable measures to address abuses by security forces and the grievances of victims and their families.

A statement signed by Temitayo Famutimi, Information Specialist in the Public Affairs Section at the US Consulate said the United States looks forward to the Lagos State government’s response as part of a process that represents an important mechanism of accountability regarding the #EndSARS protests and the events that took place near the Lekki Toll Gate on October 20, 2020.

LASG releases resumption schedule for 2021/2022 academic session

The statement noted that “those events led to serious allegations against some members of the security forces, and we look forward to the Lagos State and federal governments taking suitable measures to address those alleged abuses as well as the grievances of the victims and their families”.
