Man’s reckless, dangerous driving leads to housewife’s death

A 26-year-old driver Samson Ifeoluwa, was on Friday docked in Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court sitting in Isabo for allegedly driving recklessly and causing the death of a housewife.

The police charged Ifeoluwa, of no fixed address, with reckless driving and causing untimely death of a person.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Lawrence Balogun, old the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 21 at about 9 a.m. in Idi-Ori along Abeokuta/ Lagos Express way in Abeokuta.

Balogun, said the defendant, drove a ”Captain Cebster Vehicle” with registration number OGUN AKM 3O9- YG in a reckless and dangerous manner, causing the untimely death of Mrs Kehinde Adepegba, 47.

The offence he said, contravened the provisions of sections 18 RTL Vol4 Laws of Ogun,2006 and 5, of the Federal Highway Act Cap F13 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

The defendant however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mr Dehinde Dipeolu, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

Dipeolu ordered that one of the sureties must have a landed property located in Abeokuta with C of O and must show evidence of two years tax payment.

He adjourned the case until Jan.20 2021,for trial. (NAN)
