Former Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Attah, has backed the calls by Nigerians for community police.
IGP Attah in his opening speech at FCT Community policing sensitization campaign held at the National Universities Commission, Abuja, yesterday said as one of the persons who effectively used community policing to achieve a lot of breakthrough, the system should be encouraged and be supported by all.
He condemned the misuse of police officers by VIPs especially Nigeria lawmakers at all levels.
Attah advised the current Inspector General of Police to immediately withdraw all the Special police officers attached to these VIPs adding that it is embarrassing seeing police officers carrying politicians’ bags and shoes in the public.
