A Chieftain of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), in Anambra State, Chief Azubuike A. Ekweozor, has expressed optimism about Nigeria’s greater future in 2022.
Ekweozor, stated this during a Football Match Competition, organized by Ide Global Movement, to encourage youths on self-reliance held at his country home, Umoawulu community, in Awka South Local Government Area of the state.
He said that 2022 marks a new beginning for Nigerians irrespective of religion and the Anambra people in general.
He called on the illustrious sons and daughters of Anambra to invest their resources at home to deepen and expand the economic, sporting, and industrial sectors for the effective development of the state.
While listing the APGA-led administration in Anambra state, since 2008 including the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport project, Awka City Stadium, adequate security structure, constant payment of workers salaries, and the ongoing construction of International Convention Center, Ekweozor, who is the Managing Director of Ide Global Movement Limited, expressed optimism that the incoming government of Professor Chukwuma Soludo, would keep place with the achievements.
He also expressed satisfaction that Anambra has become a reference point for a progressive state and asked the people to play down on differences to build a more prosperous state, to further reposition the state.
He called for the promotion of brotherly love, peace, and revival of the great Anambra spirit which the Anambra people are known for, and wished Nigerians a happy new year.
Speaking further, Ekweozor, noted that the maiden edition of the Agbana Umuawulu Unity Cup, sponsored by him, was also part of activities marking this festive season and promoting unity and sportsmanship among youths of the community.
He said he had the interest of the youths of his community at heart and was a lover of sports, hence the rationale for sponsoring the program which aimed at promoting peace and unity in the community.
According to him, the tournament provides an alternative platform for talented youths to exhibit their football skills and for grassroots football stars to have opportunities to explore the possibility of taking up an international football career in their future.

He promised to use Football competitions to redirect the behaviors of youths from intake of Mkpurumiri and other deadly drugs in society.
The Traditional Ruler of the community, Igwe Joel Egwuonwu, commended the sponsor, Ekweozor for sponsoring the program, which according to him, is another way of promoting unity, peace, and love among the citizens of Agbana quarter and the Umuawulu Community at large.
Also speaking, the Traditional Prime Minister of the Community, Dr. Emma Ezenwaji, who applauded the communal support of the APGA Chieftain, underscored the importance of sports especially at the grassroots level, pointing out that promoting sports, inspiring young athletes, and increasing healthy competition among the youths would discourage them from social vices.
In an interview, the team leader of Alanapuego Football Team, Chief Ifeanyi Chizuba, expressed happiness that his team won at the end of the tournament and assured to continue leading in subsequent matches
The competition that took place at Ebe-Abuja Stadium Umuawulu, was played between Onwaputa-Ifeadi Football Team and Alanapuego Football Team and it was won by Alanapuego Team
