Aside from signing a new contract, one thing that is paramount on the heart of the Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, is to win trophies for the senior national team before he calls time on his international career.
Musa, whose invitation for the last African Nations qualifiers generated so much heat in the media, equally expressed surprise at coach Gernot Rohr’s ‘kind gesture’ for inviting him to be in the team as a non-playing captain, assured that such experience will soon be over.
“I know I will soon get over this experience as things will begin to work out as planned. Beyond this, I want to win trophies before I call it quits from the national team. I am 27 now, I still have about three or more years to play in the national team…but I want to crown all my efforts with a trophy,” he declared.
The former CSK Moscow winger made history with late coach Stephen Keshi- led team that won the Nations Cup in 2013 for the third time. He also featured in the Egypt 2019 Nations Cup where the Super Eagles won bronze medal, having defeated Tunisia in the losers’ final.
He had also been to two FIFA World Cups -2014 and 2018 – but the speedy winger would like to win another trophy for the Eagles, at least to serve as a parting gift by the time he would call time on his fledging career in the senior national team.

Meanwhile, Musa seems to be on the verge of fulfilling his dream with the Super Eagles’ recent qualification for African Nations Cup in Cameroon next year.
It would be recalled that Nigeria was among the six countries that qualified for the Nations Cup without losing a match in the qualifiers.
