A yet-to-be-identified taxi driver has reportedly killed self, wife and three children in a taxi cab in Oluwatuyi area, Ijoka in Akure, the Ondo state Capital.
Eye witness said the driver was driving on the road under construction when he rammed into a heavy duty tractor carefully parked by the side of the road, used for road construction.
According to report, the taxi driver was in the vehicle with his wife and three children, while driving home from ShopRite area along Ijo-Mimo around 10pm before they met their untimely death.

A fellow taxi driver who spoke in confidence said there was no way the driver would not have been able to see such a huge vehicle being packed by the side of the road.
He added that the driver must have been on top speed which aggravated the impact of the accident, and under the influence of alcohol.
According to him,” Even when we came to check on him, we found out that his corpse was smelling of alcohol.
“He must have been on high speed as a result of the alcoholic intake, because when we came to check on him, his corpse was smelling of alcohol. I think his wife should have made efforts to control him.”

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Fumilayo Odunlami comfirmed the incident and the number of casualties.
Residents of Oluwatuyi area in Ijoka were seen in groups, discussing the unfortunate incident under which an entire family got perished.
The remains of the man and his entire family members who died in the unfortunate accident have been evacuated and deposited at the Morgue of the University Medical Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH) in Akure.
