Lagos schools to re-open Monday, Nov 2

The Lagos State Government has directed that schools re-open.

Public and private schools in Lagos are to resume back to school for the second time this session from Monday, November 2 while boarders resume Sunday, November 1.

This directive comes following the break in educational activities as a result of the unrest that plagued most states following the Lekki shootings.

In a statement, Lagos State’s Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo, described 2020 as an unprecedented year with the recent happenings that have regrettably led to frequent closure of schools with attendant learning disruptions faced by all children.

“We pray and hope that there will be no more disruptions in the academic calendar. However, the state government will always regard the safety of pupils/students, parents and all staff as a matter of priority.”

She advised pupils and students to take their studies more seriously in order to recover the lost period for them to succeed.

The Commissioner further optimism that this re-opening on Monday will continue unhindered till the end of the term.
