Anambra: We’re resolute to deliver Val Ozigbo for Agu Awka Govt House through Issue-Based Campaign – Chief Nwobu

By Cajetan Mmuta
The Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra state said on Wednesday it is resolute towards ensuring the victory of its party and candidate Chief Valentine Ozigbo in the race for Agu Awka Government House come November 6 governorship election in the state.

Chairman of the part, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu who stated this during a press conference held at the party’s secretariat in Awka the state capital said the PDP and its members would be all out with the issues-based campaign, door to door campaign, and play the game on issues for a guaranteed victory for the party.

He noted that the fortunes of the party to take over the reins of power in the state had been slowed down by forces he described as disgruntled elements bent on truncating such dream but expressed optimism that the handwork of black legs within the party had been uprooted by the recent verdict of the Appeal Court in Abuja.

He said, “You will agree with me that our great party, the PDP for quite some time now has been passing through very turbulent time3s in the state occasioned by activities of some disgruntled elements whose only stock in trade is merchandising and paid agents whose efforts at all times are geared towards truncating the efforts of the PDP from actualizing power in the state.”

“These products and activities of these disgruntled elements if further perpetrated as a way of life which started way back from 2002 in this state. But, to the glory of God, the coming into a place of this party leadership in Anambra state under my le3adership has greatly abated the efforts of these disgruntled elements to thwart our march to progress.”

“Be that as it may, they have not changed their patterns and ways, but we thank the good Lord that their “efforts through the judiciary to emasculate the party to thwart our efforts again towards achieving power have once more been curtailed through the instrumentality of again of the judiciary.”

You will agree with me that the judgment of the Appeal Court Abuja delivered on Friday, the 30th of July was very resounding in condemning the actions of the FCT High Court headed by Justice Adeniyi, who knowing fully well that he ought not to get himself entangled in a matter that is out of its territorial jurisdiction, willfully got himself so entangled for reasons best known to him.”

He explained that “The appellate court had put to rest the issue of leadership of this party in this state. I want to thank the appellate court and I want to thank our leaders, particularly, our BoT members, National and state assembly leaders, our national leadership, and the leadership in Anambra state, that is my core state officers and local government chairmen and ward chairmen who represent the entirety of the party at ward levels, for being resolute and steadfast in ensuring that once more that the wishes of Anambrarians who are PDP and followers have come to play at this moment in time.”

“I want to reassure all Anambrarians, particularly, our party followership and leadership that our determinations to join forces with the candidate of the party in the person of Chief Valentine Ozigbo (Ezego), to ensure the victory of our party come November 6, 2021.”

Speaking on the crisis within the party which led to the resignation of seven of its key officers and efforts to reconcile all aggrieved persons in the state, Nwobu said, “Our party, the PDP is a big umbrella and in a big house there are bound to be desperate views; there are bound to be great men and women, there are bound be some madness and there are bound to be people who will be there to make peace.”

“This party has endured since the incoming into being of the present democratic process and good enough to have been able to set up different strata of abilities to reconcile amongst itself, all of the BoTs of this party, those who are the conscience of the party,” he said.

“We have the governors’ forum, we have the former ministers’ forum, the National Assembly leadership; we have the chairmen’s forum and other organs within the party. I want to assure you that the development you are seeing at the National level is definitely a domestic problem and will be resolved within the very shortest possible time.”

On the possibility of the PDP crisis trickling down the state, he said, “Again, it is not in any way a constitutional problem that will in any way tear the house apart but if national leadership problem is such that will trickle down the state then we can safely say that none of the parties can stand the election in Anambra state come November 6 election.”

“The APC has a constitutional crisis facing them as we speak, their problem is more humongous than that of the PDP; as we speak they don’t even know how to start solving the problem facing the APC. The APGA that’s the party in government in Anambra state has three factions with a litany of cases here and there; judgments here and there and it’s not even a big house, it is a small house and they cannot even settle a problem in a small house. So, the emerging national problem of the PDP will not in any way trickle down to the state and those problems will be resolved very shortly,” he stated.
