Outspan, Kano Dairy, launch artificial insemination for 100 cows in Kano
Outspan, a subsidiary of OLAM Nigeria Ltd., in collaboration with Kano Dairy Cooperation, has launched an artificial insemination for 100 cows in Kano State, free of charge.
The Olam Regional Manager, Mr Manish Khede, made the disclosure on Tuesday at the launch of the programme at Yarkanya in Dawakin-Tofa Local Government Area of the state.
Khede said that the programme was part of the company’s social responsibility.
He noted that the programme would assist in enhancing dairy and livestock production in the state and the country.
He said that the company would also embark on grass production to assist farmers with animals feeds.
According to the regional manager, they were targeting to inseminate up to 500 cows.
He said that the company would provide the artificial insemination service free of charge to the farmers.
He said this would assist in boosting livestock production.
Khede said that they were also into rice production in some states, all in efforts to improve agricultural productivity and guarantee food security in the country.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Dawakin-Tofa Local Government, Alhaji Ado Tambai, represented by a councilor, Abdullahi Isyaku, commended the efforts of the company in that direction.

Tambai urged the beneficiaries of the gesture to take proper care of the animals by giving them enough food.
He assured that the council would continue to join hands with such organisations to enhance dairy and livestock production in the state.
In his remarks, the representative of the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN), Hajiya Bilkisu Wali, said thE bank would continue to support farmers to boost agricultural productivity in the country.
Wali urged the company to support the herdsmen with animal feeds.
