The Africa Fintech (Financial technology) Summit (AFTS) on Tuesday announced Nigeria’s Flutterwave as the Platinum Sponsor for its 2021 session slated to hold in November in Cairo.
Flutterwave is a payments technology company that enables cross-border financial transactions.
Its sponsorship of the Cairo session highlights its interest in the North African financial technology ecosystem.
Flutterwave founded in Nigeria and based in San Francisco, U.S.A., has become one of the fastest-growing payments companies in the world.
In 2021, it has processed more than 140 million transactions worth more than nine billion dollars across 33 African countries and enjoyed compound annual growth of 226 percent from 2018 to 2020.
Olugbenga Agboola, Flutterwave’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, said in a statement in Lagos that the Cairo summit would hold on Nov. 16 and Nov. 17.

Zekarias Amsalu, Co-Founder of AFTS and Managing Director, Ibex Frontier said Flutterwave had demonstrated that borderless payment infrastructure was critical for Africa’s seamless economic integration.
