There has been an on-going rumour that the APC is grooming Mr Tokunbo Abiru to win the Lagos East senatorial by-election on October 31st, 2020 in a bid to upstage Gov Sanwo-Olu in the 2023 gubernatorial election.
This rumour has not escaped the notice of the APC Lagos State Chapter, and they have taken time to debunk it.
Mr Seye Oladejo, Spokesman for the Lagos state Chapter’s media house inferred that the rumour was being circulated by the opposition and is not a true reflection of the intention of the APC.
The APC has also issued a statement which states that “This claim is as good as the figment of the author’s imagination. Sanwo-Olu is a strong supporter of Abiru’s senatorial aspiration. He also endorsed him. There is no basis for a power struggle.”
