The move comes after a rival faction, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, announced the expulsion of prominent members, including Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, and Anyanwu himself.
The expulsion has escalated the power struggle between Wike and the PDP Governors’ Forum.
The BoT meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m., while the NEC session will follow at 2 p.m. Attendance is compulsory, with “crucial matters” expected to be discussed, the statement Anyanwu signed on Monday revealed.
Over the weekend, a faction led by Umar Damagum, immediate past PDP national chairman, held the party’s national convention in Ibadan.
Present at the convention were Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi; Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa; Dauda Lawal, governor of Zamfara; Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau, and Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo.
Ladi Adebutu, Ogun state governorship candidate of the PDP in 2023; Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, senator representing Kogi central; Babangida Aliyu, former governor of Niger state; and Kabiru Turaki, a former minister and the consensus candidate for national chairman, were also in attendance.
Also present were Ibrahim Shekarau, former Kano governor; Adolphus Wabara, chairman of the BoT; and Bode George, a member of the BoT.
Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun; and Agbu Kefas, governor of Taraba; were notably absent from the convention venue.
Mutfwang and Fintiri, who were also at the venue, had distanced themself from the expulsion of the FCT minister.
