Chairman, Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. Joseph Gbenu, on Monday, urged parents to engage their wards in meaningful activities during the ongoing mid-term break for schools.
Gbenu gave the advice while addressing some parents who paid a courtesy visit to the council Secretariat at Kankon.
The chairman urged them to keep a close watch on their children as the year was gradually coming to an end.
Gbenu implored parents and guardians to make use of the break to engage their wards productively and spend time with them to foster cordial relationships that would make a peaceful society.
He urged the students to take the advantage of the holiday to concentrate on their studies and help their parents.
The state Ministry of Education had announced a week mid-term break for students of public and private schools from Nov. 1 to Nov. 5.
All schools will resume on Nov. 8, for instructional learning hours in line with 2021/2022 harmonized school calendar put in place by the state Ministry of Education.

While announcing the break, the government said it would afford schools the opportunity to internally upskill their teachers in various educational and developmental programmes.
It said this was especially at this time of COVID-19, where learning had gone beyond the physical four walls of the classroom.
The government said that teachers should use the opportunity to further put in place COVID-19 safety and precautionary protocols as prescribed by the Lagos State Government for students’ wellness. (NAN)
