The Abuja Literary Society (ALS) said on Wednesday that it was set to host the 2021 Abuja Literary and Arts Festival (ALITFEST21), in the Federal Capital Territory.
The Press Manager, ALITFEST, Bamas Victoria, said in a statement that the event in its fourth edition had become a landmark of Abuja’s cultural scene, designed to promote community values.
Victoria disclosed that the event, with the theme: ”Making Art Work”, would hold from Sept.25 to Oct. 2
ALITFEST is an annual literary festival that provides creatives a voice and platform curated by the ALS, the largest community of literary creatives in the FCT.
“In 2020, the festival was held virtually and extended its shores beyond Nigeria to other parts of Africa, and the rest of the world, in view of the global pandemic.
“We were also able to include the African diaspora in our conversations, with cross-over panelists that included Africans and African-Americans.
“The results of that virtual festival far outweighed our expectations and therefore, this year, we propose to host a hybrid festival in virtual and physical spaces,” she said.

She listed the high points of the event to include, a panel discussion, poetry performance, festival anthology, art exhibition, fiction, scriptwriting, language translation competition, and secondary schools debate competition.
Others are: outreaches to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps, a writing competition, book, and arts fair, as well as music concert, she added.
