President General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), Dr. Rafiu Ladipo has thrown his weight behinde the appointment of a new head coach for the Super Eagles.
ThisNigeria recall that on Tuesday 27th of
August the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) through the Secretary General Dr. Mohammed Sanusi announced German tactician, Bruno Labbadia as the new head coach of the Super Eagles to replace Finidi George, who quit the job in June after two games in charge without a win.
Reacting to the appointment of a new head coach for the Super Eagles, Dr Ladipo said it is long overdue considering the fact that for several months the three-time African Champions have been without a coach.
According to Ladipo, the announcement of Labbadia’s appointment would return confidence in the Super Eagles locker room as they prepare for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda on September 7th and 10th respectively.
A positive looking Ladipo believes that the NFF must have done their home work well before settling for German with the belief that he has the technical know how to take the Super Eagles to a higher level and called on football loving Nigerians to back him at achieving the desire success with the senior national team.
“Well, Labbadia is a German football tactician and the NFF has announced his appointment a few hours ago. I want to believe that the appointment of Super Eagles coach is long overdue.
“For months we don’t have a coach and we’re talking about qualifying for the Cup of Nations as well as the World Cup. How do you prosecute all those matches without a coach. Now that a coach has been appointed I wish him success. I want him to qualify the Super Eagles for the Cup of Nations, as well as the World Cup, because that’s the thing.
“I don’t know much about him but I do expect that the NFF wouldn’t have announced his name without taking into consideration his technical ability. Since, they have announced him as coach, we’ll wait and see but the most important thing is we must all come together to support him and support the Super Eagles to qualify for both the Africa Cup of Nations, as well as the World Cup,” Ladipo said.
