Osun guber poll: Oyetola signs peace desk

The Osun state governor and candidate of the All Progressive Congress in the State Governorship Election, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola has expressed his party’s commitment to a violence-free election as Osun state glides closer to the election.

Governor Oyetola had already signed a peaceful conduct commitment document during a meeting with National Democratic Institute and “Vote doesn’t Fight Foundation” in Osogbo.

While stressing that governance was meant to serve, he noted that getting a People’s mandate should not be a violent exercise.

Oyetola promised that his party would continue to address issues not personalities in its campaigns.

Also speaking, the Director-General, Oyetola Campaign Council, Senator Ajibola Bashiru noted that the APC was being provoked as its campaign billboards, posters and banners had been destroyed by suspected political thugs.

He assured that the party would continue to avoid inciting and abusive utterances and actions before, and during. and after the governorship election.

In his remark, Osun APC Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun noted that the meeting was apt.

He expressed optimism that such meeting with other political parties in the governorship race would yield good results.

In his words, an ace musician who doubles as” Vote don’t fight “Ambassador” Mr. Innocent Idibia had commended Governor Oyetola for giving room for youth and women participation emphasizing the need to sustain the practice.

Earlier, some members of the team, Mr. Karkah Alex and Mrs. Veronica Onija had noted that violence during the election would not only affect youths and women but also cause voter apathy.

They called on principal actors in the Osun July 16 governorship election to shun violent acts as this would affect the conduct of their followers.
