Reps take first bill for establishment of nursing school

There was an excitement and jubilation in Sobe as residents of Owan Federal Constituency lauded Professor Julius Ihonvbere’s Bill on the Establishment of School of Nursing and Midwifery, Sobe in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State as the bill pass through its first reading on the floor of the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

The Lawmaker and Professor of political science representing Owan Federal Constituency of Edo state enthused that the driving force behind the sponsoring of the Bill, apart from the fact that the emergence of a covid-19 pandemic seriously exposed the lack of adequate medical personnel in the health institutions, he is further encouraged to promote the Bill in order to help mitigate the high maternal and infant mortality rate in Edo State and Nigeria by extension.

He maintained that he is especially elated at the Bill passing the first hurdle towards becoming a law and hopes that the SECOND and THIRD reading stages will be passed before the end of the year as he foresees the establishment of the school of Nursing bringing Medicare closer to the people.

 

Professor Ihonvbere has further reassured constituents of bringing legislation to the grassroot as he seeks unalloyed support and prayers towards making OWAN SECOND TO NONE.
