The Federal Government of Nigeria on Friday condoles with the family, Government and People of the Russian Federation on the passing of Mr. Mikhail Gorbachev, former President of the Soviet Union.
FG said that the former USSR leader whose unfortunate demise occured on 30th August, 2022, was one of the most influential leaders of the 20th Century.
Spokesperson Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Francisca Omayuli in a statement in Abuja said late Mr. Gorbachev will be remembered mostly for his efforts at promoting global peace and security, which earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990.
