Anambra: Eleven APGA, PDP lawmakers defects to APC

Uncertainty has heightened within the camps of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State as eleven lawmakers from both parties have defected to the All Progressives Congress, (APC).

The latest twist is coming just 37 days to the November 6th, 2021 Governorship election in the state.
The defectors include five serving and four former House of Representatives members, as well as, two members of the Anambra State House of Assembly.

Among the defected, members include a governorship aspirant of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo federal constituency, Hon Chris Azubogu.

Other nine lawmakers from PDP and APGA, who are lawmakers in the National Assembly and Anambra State House of Assembly.

However, the Media and Publicity Secretary of Andy Uba Campaign Organization, Hon Afam Ogene listed the full names of all the defectors, including Hon Engr Chris Azubogu (PDP, Nnewi North, Nnewi South & Ekwusigo), Okwudili Ezenwakwo (APGA Orumba North/South), Hon Barr Vin Ofumelu (PDP, Ayamelum), Hon Chudi Momah (APGA, Ihiala) and Hon Lynda Ikeazu (PDP, Onitsha North/South),

Also, two PDP legislators in the state assembly members are Hon Douglas Egbuna of Onitsha south and Hon Onyebuchi Offor (Ekwusigo constituency).

Two Reps leave PDP, APGA, join APC

They were all received by the Chairman, APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni on Thursday.

Governor Buni congratulated the new entrants saying, they made the right decision by joining the National Party and bringing their people to the national movement.

“You have taken the right decision at the right time. You will enjoy all the rights and privileges of the party,” Buni assured.

The defectors eulogized Governor Buni for giving APC the required leadership and taking the party to greater heights.

They promised to deliver their constituencies to the party in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.
The Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, Deputy Senate President Omo Agege, the Governors of Imo, Kogi, Kano, Jigawa, and the Kebbi States assisted the party chairman to receive the new members.
