NECO: Reps committee on basic education visits schools in FCT

...applaud Strict Adherence to COVID-19 Protocols

Though the National Assembly is on recess, the House Committee on Basic Education & Services led by its Chairman and Member representing Owan Federal Constituency,  Professor Julius Ihonvbere are still working as they continue to engage on National assignments for the growth, progress, and development of the Country.

This was witnessed on Thursday when the Lawmakers visited some schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to assess the conduct of the ongoing National Examination Council (NECO Examination) taking place across the Nation.

Prof. Ihonvbere, Committee who visited Government Model Secondary School, Maitama, Abuja, was impressed with the conduct of the examination at the Centre, as he observed the proper spacing and sitting arrangement of students carried out by the school authority.

He noted that students were divided into three groups with some in the school hall and two other classrooms well spaced to curtail examination malpractice and in compliance with the social distancing of the Covid- 19 protocol.

The Lawmaker also took special note of students with Special needs who participated in the examination and was further impressed with the way the students strictly adhered to wearing facemasks.

He commended the state of infrastructure of the school; well fenced, available water for good sanitation, and a good-landscaped field for sporting activities.

As at the time of Lawmaker’s visit, the students were writing Economics papers (1 & 2) billed for 10 am -1 pm with a total of two hundred and seventy-two (272) students in attendance.
