2 security guards docked for allegedly stealing generator

Two security guards on Wednesday appeared in a Grade I Area Court in Kubwa, Abuja, for allegedly stealing a generator set.

The police charged Mark Abama,22, and Ike Ekene, 25,  with criminal conspiracy and theft by servant.

The Prosecution Counsel, John Okpa told the court that the complainant, Amana Sule of Union Diagnostic and Clinical Services, Kubwa, Abuja reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on Sept. 5.

Okpa said that the defendants who are security guards at the clinic, allegedly stole a Fireman generator set worth N350, 000.

The offense, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 289 of the Penal Code.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty.

The defense counsel, Cyril Nwankwo prayed the court to grant his clients bail in the most liberal terms, citing Section 162 and 158 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA).

The Judge, Mr. Muhammad Adamu, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200, 000 each with one reasonable surety each in like sum.

Adamu ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and present means of identification.

He added that the addresses of the sureties must be verified by the prosecution counsel and adjourned the case until Oct. 21 for hearing.
