The Super Eagles’ with Jose Peseiro in charge don’t stand any chance of doing well at the coming Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) tagged Cote D’ Ivoire 23, ex-Nigerian international, Patrick Udoh has said.
Cote D’ Ivoire 2023 which holds from January 13 through to February 11, 2024 with the Super Eagles’ featuring in Group A alongside Guinea Bissau, Equatorial Guinea and hosts-Cote D’ Ivore in the 24 team championship.
Speaking exclusively with ThisNigeria Sports on the chances of the Super Eagles’ in Cote d’ Ivoire, Udoh, who was a former Nigerian goalkeeper pointed out that the Super Eagles’ under Peseiro have been very poor to watch, rising doubts of their chance of doing well at the tournament which is now in it’s 34th edition.
Though, Udoh admits that Nigeria is blessed with quality players, it has not reflected in the team due inept coaching of Peseiro.
” There no doubt, Nigeria is blessed with quality players but with Peseiro I don’t think Nigeria can do very well in Cote d’ Ivoire because we have seen the team performance recently against some African teams and the Eagles have not been convincing in these matches. So, from there you can judge what you are going to see at the Nations Cup. So, I think the Nations Cup is not going to be different from what we have seen so far,” said Udoh, who currently coach NNL side, Vandrezzer
Pressed further to comment on the Super Eagles’ 25-man list, Udoh said: “So far I don’t think I have really followed the national team better. So, is difficult for me to asses the team because you don’t even know who is going to play the next game.
In the past when we were playing for the national team, at least you know those that are going play; those who have consistently played for the team. But these days from nowhere somebody will just come out and be playing for the team. So, inconsistency is difficult for somebody to asses the national team”
