
The Emir of Hadejia in Jigawa, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar, has tasked the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to intensify efforts towards curtailing drug abuse in the area.
Abubakar gave the charge when the newly posted Narcotic Commander, Hadejia Unit, Alhaji Bashir Magaji, paid him a courtesy visit on Monday.
Alhaji Muhammad Talaki, the Spokesman of, Hadejia Emirate Council, stated this in a statement issued in Dutse on Monday.
The statement quoted the emir as urging the personnel of the Agency to redouble their efforts and be vigilant in view of the reported cases of drug abuse in the area.
The royal father admonished the Commander to be fair and just in the discharge of his duties.
“You must ensure that anybody found to engage in drug abuse face the full wrath of the law.
“The NDLEA should work closely with traditional institutions to address the menace of drug abuse,” the emir was quoted as saying in the statement.
While reiterating the commitment of the council to support the Agency, Abubakar urged community organizations and individuals to provide credible information on suspicious illicit drugs dealers and abusers.

Earlier, Magaji said he was in the palace to pay homage and solicit the support of the council in the discharge of his duties.
Magaji promised to work closely with groups and individuals to enable the agency to achieve its mandate.
He said the command had so far arrested 120 drug dealers and prosecuted 80 others.
