EFCC: Kogi poly rector under fire for showing support for former governor, Bello

A group of angry netizens has pounced on the Rector of the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Dr Usman Ogbo, for showing support for former Governor Yahaya Bello following his case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

It was reported earlier that the house of the former governor located in Wuse Zone 4, FCT was barricaded by men of the EFCC after the anti-graft agency secured a warrant to arrest Bello.

Following the development, Ogbo took to his Facebook to show solidarity with his former principal, however, it did not go down well with netizens.

On Facebook, the rector posted a picture of Bello saluting while alighting from a vehicle and accompanied it with the caption, “You’re always ahead of your detractors.”

Torrents of Facebook users have knocked him for that, warning him to not distract the anti-graft agency as they discharge their duties.

A Facebook user, Confluence Mayor slammed Ogbo for neglecting his primary assignment to dabble into politics.

He wrote, “The rector’s primary responsibility is to lead the institution effectively, focusing on its academic and administrative affairs rather than engaging in political activities. Maintaining the integrity and academic excellence of the institution should always be the top priority.”

“No one is witch-hunting him, power is transient. Bello obtained several court orders against Kogites Son and daughter for both personal and political gain during his reign as Governor. Bello should honour the EFCC invitation along sides with his legal team or the state will provide him one,” Aminu Ibrahim replied Ogbo.

Another user, Ejiga Rock Zachariah said, “Stop destroying your reputation sir, even if you are on his side keep it cool. But it’s sad seeing you supporting evil deeds.”

“Lecturers used to be men of integrity but not again. This is coming from a man who may wish to rule politically in the near future. There was indeed a country,” were the words of Adama Reuben Enemona to Ogbo.
