Obaseki’s Swearing In For Second Term As Edo State Governor Holds Today

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, will be sworn in for a second term of four years, today at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
On Wednesday, the governor dissolved the state executive council at a valedictory executive council session at the Government House in Benin City.
He expressed appreciation to members of the dissolved Exco for their selfless service to the state and wished them well.
Today’s swearing in of the governor and his deputy, Mr Philip Shaibu will be at 11.00am with the Chief Judge of Edo state, Justice Esohe Frances Ikponnwen administering the various oaths on the duo.
The First oath is that of Mr Obaseki’s allegiance in the 7th schedule of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution, as amended.
In this oath Mr Obaseki will pledge to, ” be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Federal Republic of Nigeria” and ,”to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
In taking the oath of office as Governor of Edo State, Mr Obaseki will pledge among others, to devote himselfelf to the service and well-being of the people of Nigeria.
The oaths by the deputy governor Mr Philip Shaibu follows similar narratives.
