2025 President Federation Cup: Rivers Angels are champions again, beat Nasarawa Amazons 4-2 on penalties

Rivers Angels Sports Club of Port Harcourt have once again proved why they are one of the best women’s football clubs in Nigeria after recording a hard earn victory over Nasarawa Amazons FC in the final of the 2025 President Federation Cup

The encounter decided today June 28, 2025, ended 6-4 after penalty kicks in the well competed final that ended 2-2 in regulation time.

Nasarawa Amazons led 2-0 in the first half but blew the lead away in the second half as Rivers Angels fought back to level the score line at 2-2.

In the penalty kicks that followed saw Nasarawa Amazons lost two kicks, while Rivers Angels scored all their four kicks to retain the trophy to mark it their 10th triumph in the competition.

Rivers Angels Coach, Tosan Blankson, attributed their comeback and victory to tactical adjustment in the second half.

” I noticed that we didn’t play well in the first half. We made some tactical errors which allowed them to score the two goals. But in the second we made some changes which saw us cancelled the lead and eventual won.

“No doubt Nasarawa Amazons are a very good but lost the game when they taught with two goal they had won,” he said.
