Anyim linked with Stella Oduah’s alleged N780m fraud

Senator Pius Anyim who is a former Senate President and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation has been linked with alleged N780milllion fraud.

Senator Anyim was reported to have been quizzed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Sunday.

The former Senate President between 2000 and 2003 and former Secretary to the Government from 2011 to 2015 was at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Sunday at about 3 p.m to answer questions on his alleged involvement with ex-Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah, over allegations of fraud while she served in the office.

Oduah, who currently represents Anambra North Senatorial District at the National Assembly was also the Minister of Aviation under the Goodluck Jonathan administration from 2011 until 2014 but was sacked over the purchase of BMW armoured cars.

She, according to EFCC sources, is being investigated over fraud allegation involving rehabilitation fund to the tune of N780 million allegedly diverted to a company in which the former Senate President was said to has interest.

Last week a Federal High Court in Abuja fixed Nov. 22 for the arraignment of ex-Aviation Minister, Oduah, over allegations bordering on fraud while she served in the office.

The lawmaker is facing a fraud charge alongside others in a suit with number: FHC/ABJ/CR/316/20.

The anti-corruption agency is alleging that Oduah misappropriated public funds to the tune of N5 billion while serving as Minister of Aviation.

When the matter was called in the last adjourned date, Liman, who informed that the case was scheduled for arraignment, said the anti-corruption agency had carried out the court order made on Feb. 9.

“On Feb. 22, 2020, my lord made an order of substituted service on the 5th and 6th defendants in the trial.
“We have carried out the order my lord,” he had said.
