End culture of electing flag bearers that cannot win elections, Okwenna tells PDP

One of the leading Governorship Aspirant on the platform the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the coming Anambra State elections has told the party in the state to end the culture of electing flag bearers that cannot win elections in Anambra State just for the fond of it.

He also tasked party leaders in Anambra to make sure that the the person who will emerge candidate of the party during the PDP primaries, biled to hold on 26th June, is one who can win elections and not one who will be another flag bearer.

Dr. Okwenna said this  when he led his Victory Mandate Team, to Olisa Metu’s country home at Nnewi, to commensurate, celebrate and rejoice with him over the reversal of his incarceration by the apex court.

While lamenting that the party had been having flag bearers since 2007, the former Commissioner for Environment said that, “it’s time we ask ourselves, why a PDP State like Anambra can’t produce a Governor for 16years”.

Dr. Okwenna in a statement after the visit asserted that this is a time for introspection.

The former Commissioner said that he will bring PDP back to power in Anambra State if given the ticket of the party.

He said that after 16 years of opposition politics in the State, it is time to return PDP to power in Anambra State.

Anambra, he said, needs somebody with character, capacity, honesty, humility and accessibility.

He pointed out that such person must know the terrain so well and be available to interact with different strata of people in the State, adding that he must also be solid, experienced and prudent in managing the already depleted resources of the State.

Dr Okwenna stated that he is molded with all this qualities and is ready to serve.

He however, expressed concern at the travails Olisa Metu, passed through, following the bias judgement handed to him, to truncate his ascendancy to national prominence.

Dr. Okwenna said, he was overwhelmed by Olisa Metu calm demeanor and strong will throughout his trial and incarceration, thanking God that inasmuch as men will always do their wish especially when in power, God remains the ultimate judge and his will is final.

He urge Olisa Metu to ensure that Ndi Anambra does not miss the opportunity, he will be providing, if elected as Governor of the State, this time.

On his part, the former National Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metu commended the humility, Industry, dedication, hard work, capacity and character of Dr. Ifedi Okwenna.

He said that the former Anambra state Commissioner for Environment, Mineral Resources, Science and Technology has remained one of the best Commissioners that have ever served the State government since the State was created in 1991.

He said his strong political will, innovative ideas and determination to achieve result is second to none and is what Anambra State needs now.

Chief Metu, said Ugwumba is at home with the youths and is trusted by the elders.

“You mix with the old, you mix with the young. You are completely digital, you understand the ways of this present generation,” Chief Metu asserted.
