There was tension in the Chukuku community of Kuje Area Council of the FCT as the youths protested incessant kidnapping in the area on Thursday.
Residents of the area woke up Thursday morning to witness angry youths blocking the main access road to and from the community and setting up the born fire with other barricades stopping people from moving in or out of the community.
The youths carried placards with several inscriptions including “Government should provide security for Chukuku community,” and others.
Before the protest, it was gathered that kidnappers were on the rampage in the community shooting sporadically.
Chukka is about an hour’s drive from the city center, on a normal day.
It was gathered that three people were kidnapped; two women and a man were said to be taken Thursday night.
The FCT Police Command was contacted through the FCT Command PPRO, DSP Josephine Adeh who did not take her calls. She later responded on her platform confirming the fracas but that “normalcy has since been restored.”
Before the protest, several kidnaps had taken place, few days before the Thursday kidnap, a pastor with the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Rev. Yohana Joshua, and his two sons were kidnapped.
Danladi Bulus, a former Secretary of the Local Education Authority, Kuje Area Council was also abducted.
Also, two siblings were abducted on Tuesday in the Godoji community in a neighboring community. The siblings were Felix Bulus and Victor Bulus.

The former LEA Secretary, Danladi Bulus, confirmed the latest incident on the telephone saying the incident happened around midnight.
Bulus said he was told that the kidnappers came in their large numbers gained access into his house by breaking the fence, noting that he was not home when they attacked.
He further said the kidnappers proceeded to the pastor’s house and also whisked him away.
“No contact has been established with the kidnappers.”
