A girl that was reported to have been chained by her mother have been released by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

The teenaged girl called Ada was chained by the neck, limbs and locked up by her parents at Umuokoro Obinkita Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia state.

NSCDC Abia command said the successful operation followed a tip-off from social media where the incident was first reported and support from civil society organizations.

According to an eyewitness, the victim was placed in chains and locked in the house by her mother identified as Blessing.

The mother who had been arrested alleged that her daughter was struck by a mental ailment, a situation that led to the action to prevent her from straying away.
