CAN President charges committee to pray for Nigeria against insecurity

The President, Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN), Rev. Samson Ayokunle has urged the newly reconstituted Chaplaincy Committee of the National Christian Centre (NCC) to pray regularly for the country against insecurity and economic recovery.

Ayokunle made the call at a news conference on Wednesday in Abuja.

“It is anticipated that weekly services will begin the soonest where prayers will be raised regularly for the country and the people with a view to stopping the menace of security challenges.

“You should also be praying for economic recovery as the populace are crying under the yoke of economic predicaments,” he said.

Ayokunle urged the committee to be creative in organizing and handling programmes so that the aim of CAN of having the chaplaincy would be fulfilled.

He urged the committee to be involved in all the blocks of CAN in their activities and to report to him through the General Secretary, who would directly supervise their work.

The new committee, which took effect on Sept. 27, has two years tenure.

The new Coordinating Chaplain, Rev. Ini Ukpuho, also doubled as the Chairman of, Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) for Northcentral has three years tenure.

The Chaplaincy Committee members are Rev. Ini Ukpuho as Coordinating Chaplain, Bishop Benjamin Fuduta as Asst. Coordinating Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Jonah Samson as Chaplain

Others are Rev. Fr. Robert Achiaga as Chaplain (Treasurer), Rev. Timothy Amacomi as Chaplain (PRO), Bishop Mike Akpami as Chaplain (Secretary), Ven Joshua Lambert as Chaplain.

The committee member also is Mrs. Felicia Jesse as a member, Mr. Chike Eguwum, a member, Mr. Yakubu Enekola (CM), member, and Rev. Dr. Israel Akanji as an adviser.
