2 Killed, 26 Abducted On Benin-Abuja Highway

Two persons were killed and about 26 unidentified persons kidnapped on Thursday when a trailer lorry rammed into a kidnappers’ barricade in Edo state.
The barricade was mounted by armed kidnappers along the busy Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi road at Obagie village in Uhunmwonde local government area of Edo state.
The dead sources say included a member of the local vigilante group and and one of the passengers on a commercial bus, which the kidnappers used to barricade the highway.
Sources say the driver of trailer on approaching the scene, sensing that it was a setup failed to apply the brakes and subsequently rammed into it.
The situation eyewitnesses say closed the highway to traffic as motorists parked their vehicles on both sides of the road.
It could not be confirmed if the situation has eased at press time, though it was gathered that men of the Nigeria Police later arrived the scene.
