The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, as Chairman of the party’s 73-member Central Coordination Committee for its 2026 National Convention.
In a statement posted on its official X handle, the party announced that Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will serve as Vice Chairman.
At the same time, Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, was appointed Secretary of the committee.
The party said the committee’s composition reflects its broad national reach and growing appeal.
“Not only governors are the ones joining the APC, but people from all classes of society are identifying with the party,” the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, quoted Yilwatda as saying. “This convention will further strengthen internal democracy and deepen the party’s connection with Nigerians.”
The statement added that all serving APC governors, the President and Deputy President of the Senate, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, as well as principal officers of both chambers of the National Assembly, are automatic members of the committee.
It also noted that all former national chairmen of the APC, as well as former presiding officers and principal officers of the National Assembly who belong to the party, are included in the committee.
According to the party, the Central Coordination Committee will be inaugurated on a date to be announced later.
“The committee is expected to ensure a transparent, inclusive and successful national convention,” the party said.
The APC National Convention is scheduled for March 27 and 28, 2026, and is expected to draw party leaders, delegates and stakeholders from across the country to chart a new course for the ruling party.
