Exco election: WAF clears Nigeria of any wrong doing

The Nigeria Archery Federation (NAFED) kick-started its 2025 programme of activities on Wednesday 15 January 2025 with Executive Board meeting held online.

The meeting which was a fallout of the recent verdict by the world Archery Federation (WAF), allowed the body to itemized its programme of activities for the year in question without hitch.

NAFED’s President and Deputy Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Mohammed Baba Abdullahi, who was recently turbaned as the Makama (Dan’ Niya) Bassa-Nge (Nupe) Kingdom, declared the meeting open and brokered the freedom verdict from the World Archery Federation (WAF) to the members.

The President thanked the board members for their commitment in ensuring that Archery Sport strives in Nigeria in spite of all odds.

He read out most of the year’s first quarter activities which include, the Annual General Meeting (AGM), workshop, Seminar and Championship.

In rounding up, Abdullahi commended the NOC led by Engr. Habu Gumel for their support.

It would be recalled that after the Archery Exco board election held in 2024 in Abuja, some aggrieved member, led by the former Secretary General, wrote petition to the world body asking it to disregard the election which was supervised by the NOC and , the Sports Ministry.

The world body gave them audience and invited them, the NOC and NAFED for a meeting in order to prove their case but they never honoured the invitation.

Irked by the non appearance of the petitioners, WAF then issued NAFED a clean bill of health and empowered the Exco Committee to go ahead with it calendar of activities as it has no case to answer.
